PASCAL aims to create a method to adapt CT scan-based models representing the laying position to the standing position corresponding to standing X-ray images. This method will improve the accuracy of the patient-specific computational models. In this project, we aim to demonstrate the effects of the curvature corrected models on patient-specific implant development in the case of a cervical vertebral body replacement. This implant will not only restore the stability of the spine but is going to provide a superior solution compared to standard surgical reconstructions. We will investigate the implant’s performance using computer models and perform biomechanical tests on cadavers as well. The experimental data will be compared to computer models to further increase the predictive power of the computer models in order to provide more accurate personalized treatment solutions in the future.
